Smoking a cigar with friends after a hard day of work is something that every cigar-smoking aficionado relishes. Just yesterday, a heated discussion on the status a cigar affords us came to light as a group of us were laying around at one of the best Cigar Shop, CA locations.
The fact that it’s easy to find a cigar at one of the many gas stations nowadays caused one of our friends to say that the prestige of smoking a cigar has gone away. It meant much more, he said, backing the old days when you had to make more effort to find a cigar.

At this point, Johnny, who had been just hanging out smoking calmly, stood up and got madder than hell. When his status as the coolest cigar smoker in the world is questioned, he doesn’t stand down for a moment.
He said that while it’s true that anyone can pick up a cigar at a variety of places these days, that in no way affected how cool he looked when he smoked his particular cigars of choice. He said while the uninformed were smoking some cheap brand, he was smoking his top-of-the-line Davidoff, Cohiba, or Trinidad brand.

The rest of us went to work thinking about Johnny’s yelling. Well, truth be told, we were actually thinking much more about that young woman walking by in her high heels.
When the lovely distraction was out of the way, we got back to the task at hand…had the exclusivity of smoking our cigars been taken away a bit by the greater cigar availability in recent years? Was it true? Were we not as cool as we thought sitting out on the street smoking?

We argued back and forth about this for quite some time. Johnny kept yelling louder and louder about how cool we all were for being cigar smokers. Actually, we think he was getting louder more from the fact that he had just downed his third drink of the evening, but who’s to say?
Our discussion never did have a conclusive answer, but we think the fact that we were saved from an all out brawl when our hot girlfriends, who love cigar smoking guys, came to pick us up for a crazy night on the town answers the question once and for all about how cool it is to be a cigar smoker.
